Very Late Introduction: A Hello From Geldarion

December 8, 2011

Howdy there, most of you already know me. My name is Geldarion, and this is my blog!

I am a musician, gamer, and chemist. I enjoy spending time with my wife, studying exact quantum dynamics, and playing guitar, and occasionally, I play two games called Star Wars: The Old Republic and Lord of the Rings Online. This blog will mostly be about those two games.

I began gaming in 1991, when my dad brought home a Mac. I don’t remember the model, because I was 3 at the time, but suffice it to say that it was a very early model. When we got a PC, I began playing games such as the Jedi Knight series, X-Wing Alliance, Battlefront, Knights of the Old Republic I & II, World of Warcraft (very briefly, in Vanilla WoW), City of Heroes, Runescape, and Rappelz. I have owned or played pretty much every Star Wars game there is. Today my game of choice is Star Wars: The Old Republic, with Lord of the Rings Online as my off-hand game (so to speak).

I became friends with my co-writers on here, Torvox and Chipchops, when we met at our university. We have since played different games, with Torvox occasionally joining me on LOTRO, but we are all finally playing the same game now that SWTOR came out! Therefore, they have decided to join my blogging enterprise here. As such, I have decided to reconfigure the author pages, thus I am now writing an introduction post that will be linked to from the “About the Authors” page, which is why you might see some things that were already on my former “About the Author” page.

Geldarion is the name I go by in the worlds of Star Wars: The Old Republic and Lord of the Rings Online. It is also the name of actual characters, a level 50 Human Gunslinger in SWTOR and a level 75 Elf Hunter in LOTRO.

When I discuss gaming, I want you to keep a few things in mind.

  1. I like to kill things, and kill them fast (only in game btw lol)
  2. I like to group, but soloing is where I am most comfortable
  3. I like goals, and I like to achieve my goals quickly
  4. I tend to have level-cap characters easily, and have a level 50 Gunslinger in SWTOR with numerous alts and 5 level 65+s in LOTRO, two of which are a 75 Hunter and 75 Captain.
  5. I have played all of the classes in LOTRO to at least level 20, and all of the classes in SWTOR to at least level 10
  6. In LOTRO, I have a supreme-level crafter in each craft, and I was kindred with every crafting guild before Isengard, Master of the Woodworker, Weaponsmith, Tailor, and Metalsmith Guilds.
  7. I have played almost all of the instances in LOTRO, at least part of the way
  8. I love PvP, and I have a Rank 5 Stalker and Captain, and my Hunter is also Rank 4, so my perspectives on PvMP are from a relatively-new person’s view. However, I am balanced in Freep vs. Creep.
  9. In SWTOR, almost all of my characters are at least Valor rank 15, with my main in the 40s+.
  10. I like lists

When it comes to science, you must keep in mind that I am a theoretical chemist, with two bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and chemistry. Therefore, I struggle with watching seminars given by organic chemists and biologists, because I cannot follow all of the steps. I have great respect for them, I just do not understand them.

In my philosophical leanings, I try to be kind, while still being firm in my beliefs. Please do not take anything personally, because I will not hold back. I am a Christ-follower, and I do not apologize.

I hope this gives you a little insight into my life and helps you understand where I am coming from on all fronts. Thanks and enjoy the blog!
