So last week I did the first post in a new series. The plan was to post once a week about my experience leveling a Sith Warrior. I decided to go Juggernaut because I love the foreboding theme to the advanced class. This weekend I was planning to finish Dromund Kaas and write the next post. My video card, however, had a different idea. It decided to die…kinda.
Saturday morning I get on and try to play the game. I hit the play button and the screen goes black to load…and stays black. I thought it froze, so I did a hard shutdown and powered it back on – still just a black screen. I do another hard shutdown, load it in safe mode and it works fine. I don’t understand why but for some reason it worked in safe mode but not regular. The only think I know to try is doing a restore point, so I do one from a few days ago and it works! YAY! I pull up TOR, press play…infinite black screen…again. It seems that my video card can so minor things like surf the web and play youtube videos but not run the game I so desperately love. I am crushed.
See there’s more to this story than just a computer dying this weekend. I have been have a slew of computer troubles. I will do my best to keep it short for you because no one likes to hear a whiner (except counselors…boy are they weird). Two weekends ago I noticed that my gaming laptop (which actually plays TOR better than my desktop) was freezing up while running anti-virus scans. I thought that was odd and the more I restarted the computer the worse it got. It came to the point where I called up ASUS and the walked me though resetting my computer to factory settings. STILL didn’t fix the problem. I don’t know computers that much so I gave it to my father-in-law to take to his friend at work who fixes computer for a living on the side.
I still haven’t gotten it back but I suspect it is my hard drive (actually I hope it is my hard drive, as that’s actually replaceable).
Long story short – I have had the worst luck with computers lately and it looks like it won’t be resolved any time soon.
Now I need a new hobby.
However, games are not just a hobby for me, they are my stress relief. AND I’M MOVING ON SATURDAY!!! I don’t know what I’m g0ing to do to stay sane. It’s sad I know, and it makes me realize that I need to do other things with my time. So now I open it to you – our beloved readers. What do you think i should do with my free time? Usually in static times such as these is spend ALOT of time on the game websites learning what I can, playing with talent calculators and what not. But that’s just as sad as spending all my time gaming. I plan to start a savings fund for my replacement parts I need to get my desktop up to snuff. In the mean time what do you thing I should do?
Thank you very much for reading,
