A Free-to-Play Player’s Guide to the Cartel Market
UPDATED: November 15th, 2012 for Patch 1.5
Welcome to the Fanatical Swordsman’s Free-to-Play Player’s Guide to the Cartel Market.
My goal with this article is to keep the general public up-to-date on the best purchases for Free-to-Play players to make. If you plan to never spend a dime on the game, then this is not the guide for you, as everything in this will have some real-world dollar amount attached to it. If you want to spend as little as possible, then this is the guide for you.
Subscribers considering going Free-to-Play should also read carefully, as I compare pricing to the standard 1-month rate of $14.99. Some of the package options when only playing one way (such as Operations only) save a bit of money from the subscription. Read more…
When Is The Patch Again?
Patch 1.5 has been on the Public Test Server for quite some time now. A recent post from Joveth Gonzales confirmed that we will not see it hit the live servers this week.
Joveth Gonzalez has just confirmed via Twitter that there will be “No 1.5 this week. We’re still testing on PTS. This was going to be a normal maintenance for our systems.”
He replied:
Correct. Stay tuned for info on when Game Update 1.5 is coming out. You shouldn’t have to wait too long.
Now the question remains, when will it hit? Today is the six-week mark from the last content update. It isn’t really because I am especially looking forward to this particular patch (though HK-51 is awesome), it is really more of an interest in when Patch 1.6 will come out with Ancient Hypergates. As I have expressed before on Tactical Strike, I have been chomping at the bit to get into Ancient Hypergates. So the faster 1.5 gets here, the faster 1.6 gets here, and the faster I am happy!
So Many Articles, So Little Time
I bet some people have wondered where all of my articles on SWTOR have been! I have been super busy in real life, so I have been keeping my commitments on TORWars and Corellian Run, but I have not been posting much over here. I meant to start doing a Rant ‘N Rave every week, but I let that go to the wayside, unfortunately. I will pick that back up at some point, or perhaps not be so strict on the once-per-week thing.
Anyway, for now, I would refer you to my recent articles on TORWars.com on my Smuggler Weekly Column and on Corellian Run Radio on my PvP column, Tactical Strike. Read more…

Guarding objectives well is an essential skill in organized team PvP like in SWTOR. Check out this video for my top 5 tips for succeeding at this vital task.
Rant ‘N Rave: SWTOR Class Story Overlap
This is the inaugural post in a new series I am starting called Rant ‘N Rave. Hopefully, I will give you a new tidbit weekly with rants and raves from my moments in gaming (maybe even in life).
This week is a Rave. I am playing through my Sith Warrior’s story in SWTOR, and I am continually struck by the ingenious storytelling that Bioware has prepared for us. I will attempt to talk generally in the beginning of the post, but spoilers will happen later, so I will warn you ahead of time. The spoilers will be in sets of two: the Sith Warrior/Jedi Knight storylines and the Trooper/Bounty Hunter storylines.
